THE BRIGHT EYED GIRL
Lakshmi Shruti Settipalli was born in Chennai, India on June 12 1996 on a mid-summer afternoon.
Born into a humble family and loved by all, Shruti had a very special aura of grace and kindness while always believing that she is on a journey of evolvement to embrace her life fully.
Perhaps this is what led her to face and overcome some of the most life-altering challenges and rise to glory. Shruti battled with poor health for most of her childhood. From the age of 5, she had a suppressed immunity which led her to be more susceptible to diseases.
Although she fought a constant battle with her health, she believes that the love from those around her created an environment of unconditionalsupport and positivity. She believes that this is her most irreplaceable strength.
RISING FROM THE ASHES
At the age of 9, Shruti suffered from an infectious disease that further compromised her immunity and, although she recovered, it had severely weakened her internal organ functioning.
A year later, she went on to fight her biggest battle after an attack of the break-bone fever as well as an internal organ infection. Despite the best efforts of her family and the doctors, her condition was considered fatal.
It was in this vulnerable moment that she found the power of inner acceptance and courage.
"Even at that age, I remember being really calm, not dependent on anyone or anything but rather focusing on my inner power and belief in divinity. It is situations like this that show us the meaning of being human and tests the strength of your soul."
Although Shruti was weak in body, her spirit was strong and with every ounce of her inner strength, she pushed against the odds and survived, proving to be a medical miracle.
Despite the fact hat Shruti spent a long time in recovery, it was here that she stumbled upon her biggest blessing which came to her in the name of Squash. Unheard of by many but intriguing to her.
She found an immediate passion for this four-walled sport which would lead her from being an immunocompromised girl to becoming one of the finest athletes in the nation.

A FORCE OF NATURE
On her journey, Shruti learned that love and passion had to be combined with relentless dedication and sacrifice.
"As you can imagine, my body wasn't prepared for a high-performance sport, and I picked up the sport much later than my peers."
Shruti was still learning the ropes and developing her physical strength when most of her peers were out there winning championships.
As a result of this, Shruti trained 9 hours a day 6 days a week while still thriving in her studies. She knew that this is what she wanted to do, all day every day, and was willing to sacrifice anything.
She found her deepest connection with the sport. "Till today I have so much love and respect for my fellow squash players, my coaches, and athletes around the world who have inspired me. Each and everyone has been and will be a huge part of my life."
Despite traveling 9 months of the year for international championships, she was still able complete high school with the recognition of "Athlete of the Year" for her exceptional performance in sports and academics.
She then moved her base to Washington D.C., where she pursued a major in Organizational Sciences and graduated from The George Washington University with a stellar GPA while playing as a NCAA Division 1 Athlete. It was in this vibrant and powerful capital city where she found her interest for international business and impact entrepreneurship.
A JOURNEY THAT HAS JUST BEGUN
Despite all these achievements, Shruti believes that her journey has just begun.
To propel her growth and expand her knowledge she decided to pursue her Masters from the renowned and competitive Imperial College London in the United Kingdom. She completed her MSc in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Management from Imperial Business School and began her journey as a Global Entrepreneur.
Taking all her learnings, Shruti is currently working diligently on a Sustainability Innovation and Technology company in London, United Kingdom. "Imperial is a remarkable institution. The dean, the faculty, the staff, and my peers are now my biggest supporters and confidants.”
She is now using her most profound insights in her venture Ecoverse that is focused on creating a world where our ecological footprint as humans is always in balance with our entire ecosystem.
